ACS Updates

Updated: Apr 2

As many of you may already know, there have been some changes to the Airmen Certification Standards. These are recent publications that go into effect May 31, 2024. That being said, we are diligently at work updating all of our courses to ensure they line up with these new ACS changes effectively.

The most notable change is that the CFI and MEI Add-On have now jumped from being a PTS to the ACS (effective May 31, 2024). Much of the study content remains similar to the PTS but is organized and presented differently.

With these new changes, here are our suggestions (short explanation):

  • You do not need to delay your studies of the Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, CFI, CFII, or MEI Add-On Study Courses.

  • If your CFI or MEI Add-On Checkride will be held prior to 5/31/24 then you can download the Checkride Lesson Plans as they currently stand.

  • If your CFI or MEI Add-On Checkride will be held after 5/31/24 then do not download the Checkride Lesson Plans until we have finished updating them (which we will have done well before 5/31/24).

With these new changes, here are our suggestions (detailed explanation):

  • If you will be taking your Checkride(s) prior to 5/31/24 then you are good to go with the courses as they currently stand.

  • If you are planning to take your Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, or Commercial Pilot Checkride(s) after 5/31/24 then you are good to go with the courses as they currently stand and you will receive all updates automatically and for free. The changes made to these study courses will be minimal and mostly organizational (not having an impact on your knowledge base or ability to fly safely and pass your exams).

  • If you are planning to take your CFI or MEI Add-On Checkride(s) after 5/31/24 then you are good to begin those study courses as there will not be major changes. However, we would not suggest downloading the CFI or MEI Checkride Lesson Plans at this time! There will be multiple changes to the lesson plans in content and organization. We will have all of these lesson plans updated well before 5/31/24 and will email all of our students once those updates are complete. We would suggest waiting for that email before downloading the lesson plans.
