ADS-B OUT VS ADS-B IN:

ADS-B OUT - Mandatory.

Sends GPS information to ATC and aircraft with ADS-B IN.


ADS-B IN - Optional.

Receives traffic and weather information.


WHICH AIRSPACE REQUIRES ADS-B OUT?: (FAR 91.225)

Class A

Class B

Class C

Class E at or above 10,000’ MSL

Within the Mode C Veil of Class B

Above Class B and Class C up to 10,000’ MSL


CAN I FLY WITHOUT IT?:

If you make an online request through the FAA’s website between 1 and 24 hours prior to your flight.


WHAT IF IT FAILS IN FLIGHT?

You may continue to your destination.
