IFR Lost Communications - QT

SELECTING THE ROUTE TO FLY:

If Lost Comms is experienced in VFR Conditions or VFR Conditions are encountered anytime after Lost Comms = Remain in VFR Conditions and proceed to the nearest suitable airport for landing.


If Lost Comms is experienced in IFR Conditions, follow these steps IN ORDER: (AVEF)

  1. A = Assigned Route.

  2. V = Vectored Routing.

  3. E = Expected Routing.

  4. F = Filed Route.


SELECTING THE ALTITUDE TO FLY:

Select the highest of the following altitudes for each new route segment (MEA):

  • M = Minimum En-Route Altitude (MEA).

  • E = Expected Altitude.

  • A = Assigned Altitude.


ARRIVING AT THE CLEARANCE LIMIT - WITH AN EFC TIME:

When the Clearance Limit is a Waypoint at which an Approach begins:
