VFR Airworthiness Requirements - QT

AIRCRAFT DOCUMENTS (ARROW):

  • External Data Plate.

  • Airworthiness Certificate.

  • Registration Certificate.

  • Radio Station License.

  • Operating Handbook.

  • Weight and Balance.

  • Compass Deviation Card.


AIRCRAFT INSPECTIONS (AV1ATES):

  • Annual Inspection.

  • VOR Check.

  • 100 Hour Inspection.

  • Altimeter Inspection.

  • Transponder Inspection.

  • ELT Functional and Battery Check.

  • Static/Encoder Inspection.


ADs

  • Airworthiness Directives.

  • Essentially recalls for airplane parts.

  • They are mandatory and may not be overflown.

  • Paid for by aircraft owner (not manufacturer).


FORM 337s:

  • Major Alterations or Repairs.

  • Any change not on the Aircraft Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS).


REQUIRED DAY VFR EQUIPMENT (ATOMATOFLAMES):

  • Airspeed Indicator.

  • Tachometer.

  • Oil Pressure Gauge.

  • Manifold Pressure Gauge.

  • Altimeter.

  • Temperature Gauge.

  • Oil Temperature Gauge.

  • Fuel Quantity Indicators.

  • Landing Gear Position Indicators.

  • Anti-Collision Lights.

  • Magnetic Compass.

  • Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT).

  • Safety Belts.


REQUIRED VFR NIGHT EQUIPMENT (FLAPS):

  • All Day VFR Equipment plus the following:

  • Fuses (spares).

  • Landing Light (if the aircraft is for hire).

  • Anti-Collision Lights.

  • Position Indicator Lights.

  • Source of Electricity.
