Lesson Quicktakes cover the items that should be memorized from each of the wifiCFI Lessons. They do not cover all of the lesson details in-depth.
TERMINOLOGY:
Pilotage = Navigation by reference to landmark checkpoints.
Dead Reckoning = Navigation by means of time and distance calculations.
True Course = The course measured on the chart (this is in reference to True North).
Wind Correction Angles = Adjusting heading for wind drift.
Magnetic Variation = The angular difference between True and Magnetic North.
Magnetic Heading = Correcting the True Heading for Magnetic Variation.
Magnetic Deviation = Electromagnetic fields that cause erroneous compass indications.
ALTITUDES TO FLY:
If course heading is between 000-179 = Odd altitudes + 500’.
If course heading is between 180-359 = Even altitudes +500’.
VFR FUEL REQUIREMENTS:
During the Day = Destination + 30 min.
At Night = Destination + 45 min.
